We Are Black History – Patrice Felder

Planting a Seed Therapy, LLC

Patrice Felder, Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of private practice – Planting A Seed Therapy, LLC in Summerville, South Carolina, was interviewed for a holiday story on Everyday Life News a few years ago. While it has been several years since the article went live, she still has goals for her organization.

“My goals are to partner more with local schools, community agencies and rural areas to provide mental health services to the underserved,” Felder said.

Felder is a mental health therapist specializing in adolescents, teens and young adults.

She said her primary focus is on supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals navigating the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood.

”I create a safe and non-judgmental space where young individuals can freely express their thoughts, emotions, and concerns,” she said. “This safe environment fosters trust and encourages open communication.”

While Felder doesn’t have any upcoming events, she has an ongoing event.

She currently facilitates a girl’s circle group once a week for girls ages 9-16 with a focus on creating a safe environment to foster strength and resilience in young women.

When asked about what Black History Month means to her, Felder said Black history contributes to a sense of cultural pride and identity.

She said, “Learning about the achievements and rich cultural heritage of African Americans fosters a positive self-image and reinforces a connection to my roots and community.

“As I reflect on what Black History Month means to me, I realize it serves as an inspiration for future generations. By understanding the accomplishments and challenges of those who came before, it provides a road map for overcoming obstacles and striving for success.”

Felder said it instills a sense of responsibility to continue the legacy of progress and resilience.

She mentioned Black History Month is an opportunity to educate people about the often overlooked or marginalized contributions of African Americans.

“I am proud to share Black History!” She said.

Her advice to future Black business owners is for them to have resilience.

“Entrepreneurship often comes with ups and downs. Cultivate resilience to navigate challenges and setbacks,” she said.

She added on that entrepreneurs can learn from their mistakes and failures and never be afraid to try again.

“Surround yourself with other entrepreneurs and mentors who can uplift, guide and encourage you. Lastly, never stop learning!” Felder said.
